Benjamin Chui

Mr. Chui is a KICCG consultant based in Hong Kong for the Asia region. Chui started his career in finance after graduating from UC Berkeley with a major in Economics and Statistics. He first joined MSCI Barra, developing quantitative risk models for the fixed-income markets in Canada, Japan, and the US corporate bond market.  Smith Barney subsequently recruited him (acquired by Morgan Stanley) to join their FX and Interest rate derivatives team based in Hong Kong.  Chui then took an opportunity to join Silicon Valley Venture Partners in research and ongoing monitoring of portfolio tech companies in Silicon Valley.  These were the years when Chui gained intimate knowledge of business operations.  He then migrated to the fast-growing hedge fund sector, focusing on high-yield debt and subprime loans.  Throughout his career, Chui developed a 360-degree view of the debt market and has a first-hand understanding of the needs and concerns of both the borrowers and the lenders.

Outside of work, Chui plays squash and chess competitively.  His sailing team also regularly competes in the local regattas in Hong Kong and southern China.
